Keith Lester Broeffle, 80, of Jonesboro was delivered to Heaven as his last package on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from NEA Baptist Hospital. He was surrounded by all of his family that loved him so dearly. Keith was born to the late Lester and Helen Broeffle on March 25, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. He lived in Detroit during his full childhood and until the early 1970s. During the summer, he loved to go work at his Aunt Jane Snyder’s farm and had fond memories from this. Once he moved to Jonesboro, he was introduced to his wife Johannah and they were married on August 11, 1974. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Keith was a mailman with the Jonesboro branch of the United States Postal Service for over 25 years and retired from this position in 2022. He and his wife, Johannah, started the Special Ministries Sunday School Class at Central Baptist Church in the early 1980s and the group is still going strong today. This class also competes in Special Olympics and has an Overcomers Choir along with it. Keith drove the Central Baptist Church bus beginning in the 1970s. He picked up just about every kid in Jonesboro on every block. He was a cool bus driver that would dress up as a clown, skateboard for them, and do all sorts of tricks. Keith drove the church bus for about 40 years for children and the Special Ministries group members. He just recently had to stop organizing the route every Sunday due to sickness, but he was not ready to give it up. During his adult life, Keith loved to spend time with his wife and being the best “Papa” to his grandchildren. Keith never met a stranger and he befriended just about everyone he came into contact with. He would do anything to make someone laugh or tell a joke. He was also an outstanding Christian man and did everything by the book. Keith was an avid lover of oldies music, driving, sudoku, tools, dogs, peanut butter, cinnamon rolls, and just about every sweet treat Walmart or Sam's Club had to offer.
In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his sister, Judy Broeffle Gittner, and his grandson, Asher Dacus.
Keith is survived by his wife, Johannah Broeffle of 50 years, of the home; two daughters, Whitney (Chris) Dacus of Jonesboro and Joyce (Brian) Basinger of Iowa; two sons, Kevin Broeffle of North Carolina and Shannon Barnett of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Gunner Dacus of Trumann, Christian (Geoffrey) Flemmons of Conway, Carson Dacus of Jonesboro, Daly Dacus of Texas, Michelle (Dave) Decamp, Julee (Mick) Wilson, Ryan (Selena) Basinger, and Brie (Brady) Basinger all of Iowa; Niece and Nephew, Anne Marie (Michael) Gittner Conniff and Michael (Catherine) Gittner both of Michigan; and a host of great grandchildren and friends.
