Joe Max Miller

Joe Max Miller, 79, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Joe was born October 5, 1939, in the Greensboro community to Hebren and Ruby White Miller and lived his life in the Brookland area. He worked on the family farm, spent 39 years at Frolic Footwear and was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church.

Joe enjoyed baseball, especially youth baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals, tending his farm, watching nature, gardening and growing large tomatoes. He loved his family, hunting and fishing and a good game of pitch.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fredia Mae Burdyshaw Miller of the home, sons Ken (Paula) Miller of Edmond, Oklahoma and Tracy (Jodi) Miller of Senoia, Georgia; one brother Dale (Mary) Miller of Jonesboro, one sister, Ruth (Wilbur) Brown of Jonesboro, six grandchildren: Summer Vining, Lauren (Chaz) Hornsby, Cooper Miller, Amanda Miller, Emily Miller and Jeremy Miller, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and sister Doris (Billie) Flowers.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Rutherford Cemetery with Craig Miller officiating. Active pallbearers include Jeremy Miller, Mike Miller, Greg Fletcher, Ronnie Waln, Stan Burdyshaw and Tim Albert. Honorary pallbearers include Eulas Dorton, Rickie Dorton, James Dean Fletcher and Gary Haynes.

The family wished to extend a Special Thanks to the caregivers who helped keep Joe comfortable and free of pain.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookland United Methodist Church, the Alzheimer's Association of Arkansas or Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry.
