Dr. James F. Rogers, age 84, of Jonesboro passed from this life Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home. He was born February 10, 1934 in Jonesboro to the late Metta Rogers and Byron Curtis Rogers Sr. He spent most of his life in the Jonesboro area with the exception of his time in the military and medical school. Exiting the Air Force as a Captain and Flight Surgeon in 1963, he then went on to medical school and finished his residency at UAMS in 1966. Following medical school, he practiced as a dermatologist for 40 years in Jonesboro, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ, and loved God, his family and his country. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and going to his farm in Fulton County.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dora Bea Rogers; sisters, Jean “Ginger” Francis and Betty Lou Lands; and brothers, Johnny Mack Rogers and Byron Curtis Rogers Jr.
Survivors include his son, Dr Tad Rogers and wife Sherry of Mountain Home; daughter, Beth Snodgrass and husband Dr Scot Snodgrass of Jonesboro; grandchildren Trey and Abby Rogers; and his faithful rescue poodle, Jacques Pierre Rogers.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Adcox and Rev. Darrel Miller officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2018 at Emerson Memorial Chapel from 5-7 pm.
Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Craighead/Poinsett County Medical Society.
