Clarice (Ryan) Lovelace, peacefully went home to be with the Lord during her sleep at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, March 25, 2023, at the age of 91.
She was born May 17, 1931 and graduated from Greene County Tech in 1948. Clarice married the love of her life, Tom Lovelace, on August 4, 1949. They chose to make their home in Jonesboro and raised their children.
Clarice retired from Arkansas State University in 1989, where she served as Secretary to the Director of Student Affairs. She enjoyed reading, canning, and playing cards with her friends. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. Family was her primary interest and she took immense pleasure in her granddaughter. She has been a faithful member of Central Baptist Church for the past 63 years, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin A. and Mary (Wilcockson) Ryan; husband Tom Lovelace; daughter Lesha Ann Lovelace; brothers Allyn Ryan, Robert (Bob) Ryan, Glenn (Jabe) Ryan, and L.V. Ryan.
Clarice is survived by her son, David J. Lovelace of Jonesboro: daughter, Carol Lovelace Wadley of Sherwood; and her lovely granddaughter Erin Elizabeth Wadley of Fayetteville; sisters Donna Mae Smith of Jonesboro and Peggy Sue Dunn (husband Donald) of Walcott; numerous nephews and nieces, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.
A visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10am Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Jay Jacobs officiating.
Burial will be private.
Pallbearers will be: Danny Ryan, Craig Ryan, Philip Dunn, Walt Short, Allen Ryan, and Tanner Holt. Honorary pallbearers include her extended family.
