Johnny T. Meeks

Johnny T. Meeks, 78, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born April 16, 1937 in Gaffney, SC to the late Homer Meeks and Elsie Meeks Kesler. Johnny has spent a little over two and a half years residing in Jonesboro after originally coming from Lauren’s, SC. Johnny has been a musician his entire life. He was a 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and is currently in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Johnny is survived by one daughter: Deanna (Jeff) Hornback of Jonesboro; one half brother: Bob Kesler of Laurens, SC; one half sister: Mary Ann Brown of Bluffton, SC; two grandchildren; Kylie Shaw and Ashlie Smoke; two great grandchildren; Jaeston Smoke and Deegan Shaw.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday August 7, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gaylon Tyner officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
