Zack Anderson Dunbar

January 25, 1918 — October 18, 2006

Zack Anderson Dunbar, 88, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born in Springfield, Missouri and moved to Jonesboro in 1991. He was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ and an avid golf enthusiast.

He served as a Lieutenant the US Army serving in WWII and the Korean War. He served in the US Cavalry and also in the Tank Destroyer Division. He was recognized while in the Army for developing a special training regimen for soldiers.

He was a Master bridge player, an aircraft pilot and had also received the US Department of Agriculture Earth’s Team Volunteer Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Dunbar of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Dave Wright of Jonesboro. He has one sister, Ruth Bussard, living in Springfield, Missouri.

He is also survived by three grandsons, Kelly Wright, Dr. Damon Wright, and Ryan Wright all of Jonesboro and 9 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:30 Friday, October 20, 2006 at Herndon Cemetery North of Jonesboro with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
