Zachary Ryan Nickell, 19, of Bono, departed this life on June 24, 2024, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 17, 2004, in Jonesboro, Zachary's life was filled with dedication, passion, and love for those around him.
In 2022, Zach proudly joined the United States National Guard, achieving the rank of E4 Specialist. Alongside his military service, he was a skilled welder, demonstrating his commitment to hard work and craftsmanship. He was a proud graduate of Westside High School in Jonesboro, where he excelled in academics and sports, particularly soccer and football.
Zachary had a zest for life, enjoying working, riding his motorcycle, listening to music, and watching movies. He cherished moments spent with his family and his fiancée, Jocelyn Goodenow. His warmth and dedication to those he loved will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Debrah Nickell; maternal grandparents, Eric and Susan Wery; one sister, Kimberly Nickell; and one nephew, Landon Jobe.
Zachary is survived by his father, Burt Nickell (Rachel) of the home; his mother, Cassie Nickell of Hoxie; his fiancée, Jocelyn Goodenow of the home; his paternal grandfather, Ralph Jones of Ohio; brothers, Ronnie Moody, David Moody, and Gabriel Moody; sisters, Alexandria Nickell of Leachville, Stormy Martin of Ohio, and Rachel Tabor of Jonesboro; one uncle, Steve Jones (Amanda) of Ohio; two aunts, Ashley Keane of Memphis and Gail Wery of Florida; one special nephew, two nieces, Addilyn Moody and Aurora Moody of Jonesboro, Braxtyn Hedrick of Leachville; several cousins; and a lifetime of friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, starting at 2:00 p.m., with Chaplain First Lieutenant Curtis and Patrick Mcanally officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Bernard's ICU in Zachary's memory.
Zachary Ryan Nickell's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, service, and joy will never be forgotten.
