Yvonne Crain, 82, of Brookland, died Friday at her home. Born in Fairfield, Alabama she had lived in Brookland since 1951. A woman of many talents, she loved sewing, gardening, canning, and flowers. She loved animals and taking care of her family and was especially proud of the fact that she received her GED when she was in her 60s. She enjoyed playing basketball with her grandkids and was even jumping on a trampoline with them this past summer. She was a member of the Brookland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Hubert Crain, Laurel Mississippi, Jim Crain, Crockett Mills, Tennessee; daughters and sons-in-law, Yvette & Gary Yochum, Memphis, Judy & Robert Horn, Jonesboro, Patty & John Soward, Jonesboro, Penny & Allen Burrow, Brookland; 2 brothers; 3 sisters; grandchildren, Marty Crain, Bart Gann, Brian Horn, Brandon Horn, Annabella Burrow; 4 great grandsons; and 2 great granddaughters.
Her husband, Herbert Crain and her parents, A.T. & Ira Lena Johnson Barnett, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Richard Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law, Bart Gann, Brandon Horn, Brian Horn, Gary Yochum, Robert Horn, John Soward, and Allen Burrow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Phil & Elberta Hudson, Shirley Rhea, Linda Gail McDoniel, Winsom Sunday School Class, Rachael Wise, and Lucy Gifford.
Visitation will be Monday 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lasting memorials may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.
