Woodson Blakeney, 87, of Jonesboro, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at his home of natural causes.
Born at Riddle Hill, Missouri, near Campbell, Woodson grew up on his family dairy farm at Poplar Bluff. He was an accountant with the Blakeney Dairy before moving to Memphis in 1967. In 1974 he moved to Jonesboro where he was co-owner of Tri-State Window and Door Manufacturing Company until his retirement.
Woodson was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro where he was a member of Fellowship Sunday school class. He formerly served as deacon at First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Woodson was a past member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rites.
Woodson was a U.S. Naval Coast Guard veteran of W.W. II, and was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Blakeney, and by 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include:
2 Sons and daughter-in-law: Bruce Woodson and Rebecca Blakeney of Rodeo, California, and
Gary Wayne Blakeney of Jonesboro;
2 Grandchildren: Briton Woodson Blakeney, and Alisha Hope Blakeney, both of California.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Visitation will be held 1:30-3:30 Sunday prior to the service.
A graveside committal service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
