Wilson A. Lane, 85, having lived most of his life in Bono, died Thursday, November 20, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on April 30, 1940. To Wilson William and Mildren Lane. He was a member of the Bono Church of Christ and had also served as a Deacon for many years. Loving golf as he did, he was a member of the NEA Golf Club and won many awards, including five hole-in-one shots. He graduated from Bono High School in 1957 as Valedictorian. Wilson served his country in the US Air Force as a Medical Technician.
Wilson retired as a hardware salesman for Orgill Brothers Hardware making lasting friend and customers in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. He was known to his family as “Mr Fixit” or the “Family Handyman”. Everybody in the family had either furniture or repairs done by him. They say he could build or fix anything. He was a Girl Dad. Having three girls, there were nightly softball games in the yard, weekly skiing trips and fishing trips to Norfork Lake. He will be missed for his ability to tell humorous stories and keeping everybody entertained. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Lane.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Peggy Lane of the home; daughters, Angie Bandy and husband Miles of Bono; Terri Inman and husband David of Jonesboro; Tracey Snell of Bono; brother, Jim Lane and wife Brenda of Jonesboro; sister, Jenia Williams and husband Steve of Bono; five grandchildren, Drew Johnson, Jon David Carmack, Hunter Snell, Kelsey Edwards and Rachel Anderson; and eight great grandchildren.
A Celebrations of Life service will be held at 10:00 Saturday, November 22, 2025, at the Bono Church of Christ with Richard Akins and Steve Williams officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery with grandsons, grandsons-in-law and a nephew serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 9:00 until service time.
