Willie Lee Sanders, 68, of Jonesboro formerly of Fort Worth, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born July 21, 1954 in Fort Worth, to the late Willie Lee Griffin and Lovie Jewell Sanders. Willie was of the Baptist belief. He retired from Great Dane after 10 years due to his health. Willie enjoyed music, movies and sports. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Ronnie Sanders, Kenneth Sanders, Rodney Griffin and 1 sister, Debra Sanders.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Sanders of the home; 2 sons, Nirada Sanders, Corey Sanders both of Fort Worth; 1 daughter, Tamara Renee Lansdell of Jonesboro; 2 step-sons, Myron Prunty, Devin Reynolds both of Jonesboro; 4 brothers, Elbert L. Sanders, Terry W. Sanders, Gary L. Sanders all of Fort Worth and Kevin (Michelle) Griffin of Atlanta, Georgia; 1 sister, Shirley Sanders of Houston; 3 grandchildren; special friends Helen Ruth Gentry Anderson, Andre Polk, Freddie Sanders and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Scales and Rev. Wesley Anderson Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery with active pallbearers being Curtis Tate, Montoya Varner, Aaron Smith, Billy Ray Davis, Willie Watkins, Calvin Smith and Orlando Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elbert L. Sanders, Gary Sanders, Terry Sanders, Terrence Watkins, Devin Reynolds, Myron Prunty and E.J. Jones.
Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
