William R. (Bill) Tarver

William R Tarver (Bill), age 80, of Jonesboro, died on September 28, 2008 in his home at 3700 South Caraway Apt B1.

He is survived by six daughters and 2 sons. Lucille Wilder, Killeen TX; Jane Frein, Brinkley AR; Mary Tarver, Bismark ND; Dennis Tarver, Bay AR; Patrica Kilzer, Overland Park KS; Phyllis Cook, Greer SC; Paul Tarver, Jonesboro AR; JoAnn Charette, Round Rock TX. He is also survived by his brother James Vernon Tarver and fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.. He was preceded in death by his wife Agatha Tarver.

Bill was born in ElDorado AR, September 01 1928. He graduated from Warren High School in June 1945. He received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas in 1950 and an MBA from Arkansas State University in 1977. Bill served in the Air Force from Aug 31 1950 to Aug 1 1974 retiring at the rank of Colonel. He served overseas in England, Laborador, and Thailand. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Legion of Merit. Bill was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

The funeral will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10am Thursday, Oct 2nd. Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home Wednesday October 1st beginning at 5pm followed with the Rosary at 7pm.
