William "Bill" Lawrence

William “Bill” Lawrence, 69, of Hoxie, formerly of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was of the Baptist belief. Bill retired from Rockford PowerTrain in Rockford, Illinois. He played music for the Senior Citizen’s Club in Bono and local nursing homes. Bill was a loving husband, father and he never met a stranger and never had an enemy. He was preceded in one son, Ronnie Lawrence, parents; brothers, Irvin, James, Cletus and J.C. and one sister Opal.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Peggy Lawrence of the home; son, Rick Lawrence and wife Michelle of Jonesboro; daughter, Deanna “Carol” Jernigan and husband, Brandon of Rockford, Illinois; brother, Johnny Green of Wynne, Arkansas; sister, Airnetia Ragland of Decaturville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Johnny Green and Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time on Monday.
