William K. Maxwell Sr., 82, of Jonesboro, passed away Friday morning November 16, 2007 at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro.
He was born in Monette, Arkansas and lived in Jonesboro since 1952. He was a cabinet maker and was owner and operator of Cabinet City. He was a Navy veteran having served during World War II and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Herbert & Susie Holland Maxwell, and one brother, Hershall Maxwell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virgie Maxwell of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, William K. & Janice Maxwell, Jr., Williford, Les & Phyllis Maxwell, Paul David & Jean Craig, all of Jonesboro; daughters, Darleene Powell, Kaye Harris, both of Jonesboro; brother, Herbert Maxwell, Trumann; sisters, Launa Whitman, Willimton, California, Iva Cahill, Torrance, California, Coy Hodges, Van Buren, Beleva Dean Boyd, Okeechobee, Florida, Melba Lamphere, Orange County, California; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev Ray Broadway, Rev. Gary Gipson, and Tribal Spiritual Advisor Phillip Hubbard. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew Maxwell, Michael Ketcherside, Terry Moody, Greg Moody, Brandon Hays, and Alex Moody.
His grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
