William (Bill) Hawkins Sr.

June 30, 1930 — October 4, 2007

William (Bill) Hawkins SR., 77, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday October 4, 2007 at N.E. A. Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Cleveland, Mississippi and lived in Jonesboro since 1974 moving here from Mississippi.

He was a retired car salesman for Blackwell Baldwin Cadillac in Jonesboro and a member of the South Caraway Baptist Church in Jonesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Sellie Hawkins and Lela Crider Hawkins, and one son, William Sellie Hawkins Jr.

Survived by his loving wife; Jean Hawkins of the home.

One daughter: Corrine Bell and her husband John of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

One daughter in law: Donna Hawkins of Batesville, Arkansas

Two brothers: James Roy Hawkins of Merigold, Mississippi.
Bobby Gene Hawkins of Batesville, Mississippi.

One sister: Marigert West of Prattville, Alabama.

One grandson: John William Bell and two granddaughters: Bre Ann Burris and Amber Russell.

Three great grandchildren: Jackson Bell, Lauren Burris and Emma Burris.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday October 6, 2007 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Don Martin officiating. Burial will be at Nettleton Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday October 5, 2007 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers will be John H. Bell, John W. Bell, Justin Russell, Wesley Burris, Doug Savel, and Tom Fairchild.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Copeland, Wayne Long, and Chris James.

Family requests that lasting memorial be made to the South Caraway Baptist Church Building Fund 3707 S. Caraway Road Jonesboro 72401 or to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
