William H. Griffin

July 7, 1933 — November 29, 2008

William H. Griffin, known by many as Brother Bill, passed from this life on November 29, 2008. He was born July 7, 1933 to Howard and Lillian Griffin of Otwell and was raised in the Otwell community. Bill was married to Dorothy Cooper of Weiner on September 17, 1954. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by two sons; Gerald Griffin and his wife, Sally, of Seneca Missouri, Larry Griffin and his wife, Ruth, of Memphis, Tennessee. One granddaughter, Bethany Grimmett and her husband, Clint, of Joplin, Missouri. Three grandsons, Micah Griffin and his wife Tiffany, of Seneca, Missouri; Nicholas Griffin and Jeremy Griffin of Memphis, Tennessee. A great grandson, Hunter William Griffin, of Seneca, Missouri and a great granddaughter, Lillian Ruth Grimmett, of Joplin, Missouri.

Following ministries in Tennessee, Missouri, and Mississippi, Brother Griffin served as President of Mid-South Christian College (Memphis) from 1987 to 1997. He was known for his evangelistic efforts, holding meetings throughout the mid-south area as well as in Australia, Zimbabwe, India, China and the Dominican Republic.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Steve Shepherd, Jim Adkins, Ted Avant, and Mitch Ford officiating. Interment will follow at McDaniel Cemetery with Billy Wilkins, Sammy Rorex, Harold Clark, Billy Briggs, Carl Osborne, Claud Smith, Jim Reed, and E. J. Cunningham serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Monday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
