William Brown Lacy III, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2009. He was 49.
Brown was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on April 13, 1960, and graduated from Pine Crest Preparatory School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, before attending the University of Florida at Gainesville. He went on to graduate from Arkansas State University, where he was a collegiate wrestler and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He later obtained a law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.
Brown loved the land, evident in his hard work and success as owner and co-manager of Lacy Family Farms in Egypt, Arkansas. He was a member of the Arkansas Bar Association and was committed to Northeast Arkansas and the business community, serving on the boards of Riceland Foods, Craighead Farmers Co-op, Cache River Drainage District, Craighead County Conservation District and Farm Bureau. Brown was also a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Ruth Lacy. Survivors for Brown are his wife of 17 years, Cassy K. Lacy, of the home; sons, William Lacy and Sean Shrum of Jonesboro; daughters Myriah Van Camp and her husband Scott and Courtney Shrum, all of Fayetteville; father, William Brown Lacy, Jr., Jonesboro; sister, Lynn Lacy, Jonesboro; nephew, Donny Tilton and wife Lisa; niece, Lacy Tilton, all of Jonesboro; great niece, Lexee Tilton; great nephew, Trace Tilton; maternal aunt Inez Bridger, Jonesboro; and family, Ila Gay III, and Sandra Lacy, all of Newport, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Reverend John Miles officiating and eulogists William Lacy, Mike Mackey, Jeff Myatt, Jim Lyons, Joe Simpson, Steve Griffin, Jeffrey Greenberg and Gregg Lee. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M until service time on Tuesday. Burial will be private.
