William G. "Bill" Tarpley, Jr., 65, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Forrest City, Bill was a 1967 graduate of Little Rock Central High School. He moved to Jonesboro and was a graduate of Arkansas State University with a BS degree in Business Administration. He was a retired outside sales manager for Ferrell-Calhoun Paint Company of Jonesboro where he worked many years.
Bill was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys football team. Bill was preceded in death by his parents: William G., Sr. and Elizabeth Gore Tarpley.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Tarpley of the home;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Angie and Bobby Joe Couch of Brookland;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Jeff T. and Andi Tarpley of Jonesboro;
6 grandchildren: Zachary Couch, Shelby Couch, Zachariah Gibson, Jacob Tarpley,
Daniel Tarpley and Blake Tarpley;
1 niece, Stephanie Houston; and
3 nephews: Billy Mann, Dwayne Mann and Tommy Mann.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Sutton and Rev. Charles Sigman officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Brian Smith, Todd Reed, David Sutton, Tommy Cook, Pete Armstrong, and Dale Barber. Honorary pallbearers include fellow employees and former customers of Ferrell-Calhoun Paint Company.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
