William "Bill" R. Clark

February 15, 1928 — May 17, 2015

William R. “Bill” Clark, 87, of Jonesboro passed from this life Sunday, May 17, 2015 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born in Jonesboro, February 15, 1928 to the late Floyd and Greta Clark. Bill lived his entire life residing here in Jonesboro while also being a long time member of First Baptist Church. Bill was such an accomplished person and it started early on in his career as a Boy state Delegate and was the last Jonesboro resident to serve as President of Boys State. He then served as a Major in the Army Reserve. Bill was a County Official who played a very instrumental part in the naming of what is now NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital and was formally known as Craighead memorial hospital. He was also an avid Bridge player and was ranked as a Bronze Life-master. Bill served as the Craighead county Judge throughout the 1960’s and 70’s. He was known as being a very “Big hearted“man, who never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was very intelligent and honest man who always kept his word and did what he said he would do. Bill was such a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill will be dearly missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers: Paul and Fred Clark.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Clark of the home; three sons: Bill Clark, Bob Clark, and Brad (Becca) Clark all of Jonesboro; five other children by marriage: Brian (Beverly) Smith of Meridean, MS, Suzanne (Eric) Howlett of Jonesboro, Karen (Henry) Gray of Knoxville, TN , Michael (Kerry) Smith of McLeansville, NC, and Cathy (Frank) Darvis of Jonesboro; one brother: David (Tanya) Clark of Jonesboro; two sisters: Beverly (Kieth) Inman of Oklahoma City, OK and Maryland (James) Henson of Germantown, TN, Thirteen grandchildren, and one great- grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home with Kathy Holler Officiating. Burial will be Private. The active Pallbearers will include: Far too many friends and family to list. Honorary Pallbearers: will include “The McDonald’s Coffee Drinking Crew” and His Sunday school Class.
