William "Gary" Barkley

William “Gary” Barkley, 75, of Jonesboro departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born June 21, 1947 to the late William Lloyd and Doris Barkley in Jonesboro.

Gary was a U.S. Army Veteran serving time during the Vietnam War, he retired from Riceland later in life. He loved to spend time doing puzzle books, he loved to go fishing, spending time outside tinkering with his fishing poles or the yard, watching M.A.S.H or Bonanza.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by; his wife Shirley JoAnn; and one son, Charles Barkley.

He is survived by; one son, David Barkley of Jonesboro; one daughter, Kerry Barkley of Jonesboro; two step-children, Doug Christensen of Jonesboro, Kimberley Hurt of Missouri; one brother, Michael Barkley (Jean) of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Rece (John), Lacy Barkley, Christa Rosse, Jackson Barkley, Dalton Barkley Miranda Harden (Devin), Courtney Barkley; one step- grandson, Dominic Donley; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at Emerson Funeral Home, Sunday, March 12, 2023 beginning at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 13, 2023  starting at 2:00 p.m. with burial private.
