Wilford “Big Bill” Williams, 84, of Lake City died Monday August 18, 2014 at his home. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on November 24, 1929 to the late Ed and Evelyn Belcher Williams. He had lived in Lake City for 31 years, moving there from Jonesboro.
He was the owner/operator of Williams Trucking Company and Williams Pawn Shop in Lake City since 1994 and was of the Assembly of God belief. Wilford was an U.S. Navy Korean veteran and graduated from the Nettleton High School Class of 1949. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife; Jeraldine Nelms Williams, Daughter; Cynthia Henry, Brother, and 3 sisters.
Survived by his wife of 31 years; Esther Williams of the home.
Adopted grandson; Cody Williams of the home.
Sons; Ed Williams (Patricia) of Springdale, Arkansas.
Rick Williams of Jonesboro.
Step-Son; Jerry Jones of Lake City.
Daughter; Dottie Williams (Lynn) and Step- Daughter; Linda Jones both of Lake City.
Brothers; Dale Williams (Peggy) and Billy Williams (Janice) all of Jonesboro.
Sister; Jeraldine Little of Michigan.
6 grandchildren; Lori, Janna, Shawna, Jamie, Daniel Williams and Todd Woodall and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday August 21, 2014 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Leon Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Pyburn, Michael Pyburn, Lynn Tackett, Lee Pyburn, Thomas Pyburn and Scott McDuffie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Williams, Bobby Wayne Pyburn, Jake Gilley, John Davis, Gerald Craig, Marty Bunch and Johnny Watkins.
