Wilburn Lee Willcockson, 81, of Jonesboro, died Friday, February 24, 2012, at Jonesboro Healthcare Center.
Wilburn was a native and life-long resident of Jonesboro. He was a 1948 graduate of Jonesboro High School and attended Arkansas State University for 2 years. He was employed by JC Penney for 13 years, EI DuPont for 12 years, Riceland Foods for 4 years and worked at Gordon Shoes before retiring a few years ago. Wilburn was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Wilburn was a past member of Jonesboro Jaycees, Jonesboro Lions Club, and enjoyed singing at the Music Roundup. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Homer and Amanda Lee Powers Willcockson, by two sisters: Betty Lacefield and Beatrice McGill, and by two brothers: Howard Willcockson and Calvin Willcockson.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Payton Willcockson of the home;
A sister-in-law: Mary Alice Willcockson of Jonesboro; and
Several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Parker officiating and Monty May delivering a eulogy. Private burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
