Wilburn Odell Timmons, 89, of Jonesboro, died Monday, November 6, 2017, at Jonesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a lifelong resident of Bay and a member of the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Wilburn worked for many years as a barber and retired from General Electric in Jonesboro. He served his country in the 11 th Airborne Division of the US Army, serving in WWII as a paratrooper. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Jeanette Timmons Kitterman; daughter, Sharon Timmons Yeager; his parents three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Timothy Odell Timmons (Donna); Brian Timmons of Jonesboro; daughter, Jennifer Timmons Travis (Jackie); brothers, Billy Timmons, Rawden Timmons; sister, Diane Rawls all of Bay and a sister, Betty Kuhel of Hernando, Mississippi; grandchildren, Brandi M. Travis Hiscox; Stacy L. Travis; seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Bethany, Cody, Courtney, Cory, Christopher, and Chasity.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Bay with Rick Jensen officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.
