Weltha Mae “Babe” Griffin Feick, 82, of Panama City, Florida, died Monday, March 19, 2012, in Panama City.
Babe was born in Jonesboro on December 16, 1929, and was a graduate of Arkansas State High School in Jonesboro. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University and then earned Registered Dietitian Certification at Kennedy Veterans Hospital in Memphis.
She worked at the Memphis VA Center and at other hospitals until she became disabled. Weltha coordinated the initial set up and operation of the food service in the George W. Jackson Mental Health Center in Jonesboro in the 1970s.
Babe was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Pauline Roberts Griffin, by a sister, Patsy Lucas, and by husband, Frank Feick who died on March 11 in Panama City.
Survivors include 2 sisters: Martha Higgins (Marvin) and Mary Pierce (Herbert), both of Jonesboro, 4 brothers: Jim Griffin (Inez), Roger “Andy” Griffin and Mike Griffin, all of Jonesboro, and David “Sandy” Griffin (Ann) of Clovis, New Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside funeral service will be held Friday in Pine Log Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
