Weldon Eugene Tounsand

Weldon Eugene Tounsand, 80, departed this life on December 8, 2024, at his home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born on February 6, 1944, in Bono, Arkansas, to Ira and Lela Tounsand, Weldon grew up in a large, loving family.

Weldon spent 46 years in St.Louis before returning to Jonesboro where he lived for 20 years. He also attended Tower Grove Church. Weldon worked for General Motors for over 30 years as an automotive maker, dedicating himself to his craft. His passion extended beyond his career, as he loved restoring old cars, creating beautiful gardens, and spending time outdoors. Weldon shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Maddie, who was his faithful companion.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Tounsand; his children, Harold Tounsand (Nary) and Kathy Painter (Rick), both of Jonesboro; his brother, Art Tounsand of Jonesboro; his grandchildren, Bradly Tounsand and Brittney Richardson (Jonathan); and two great grandchildren, Dahlia & Mackenzie.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 PM at Trinity Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Ken Stallings. Pallbearers will include Bradley Tounsand, Toby Tounsand, Terry Mays, Clayton Mays, Travis Mays, and Zach Baker.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Weldon's memory.
