Wayne Kendrick, 85, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born to the late Leland and Clara Kendrick on March 12, 1932 in Haynesville, Louisiana. Wayne lived in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before moving to Jonesboro. While in Baton Rouge, Wayne owned his own restaurant for 22 years, The Frost Top. Wayne was an avid Louisiana State University football fan and he was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed leading singing for several years. He has attended the Lawson Road Church of Christ for the last three years. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his brother, James Merlin Kendrick; and granddaughter, Susan Kendrick.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Kendrick; sons, Kenny Kendrick of Quitman, Arkansas, Jimmy Kendrick (Diane) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Billy Kendrick (Julie) of New Philadelphia, Ohio; daughter, Elizabeth Ferguson (Jimmy) of Jonesboro; sister, Maurie Gentry of Texas; grandchildren Benjamin Kendrick, Melissa Sexton (Eddie), Stephanie Bentley (Chris), Scott Ferguson, Brian Ferguson, Mark Ferguson (Courtney), Drew Ferguson, Megan Ferguson, Stacy Taylor (Brad), Christina Hale (Justin), Leland Kendrick, and Clara Kendrick. Wayne also leaves behind 14 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home with Roy Sharp officiating. Burial will be at Old Town Cemetery in Haynesville, Louisiana at 2:00 pm on Sunday.
The visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 1:00 pm.
