Wanda June Tinch Smith, 82, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away at her residence of natural
causes on Friday, May 12, 2023.
Wanda was born and raised in Jamestown, Tennessee, where she met her husband of almost
65 years, Ray Franklin Smith. Wanda and Ray had their first child Patsy Jo Moriarty in
Jamestown. The Smiths’ then moved to Woodstock, Illinois and had their second child, Mary
Melissa Gossett, and third child, Melinda Marie Holcomb.
The Smiths' then relocated to Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1986 and have lived here since that time.
Wanda was baptized in January 1993 and was a faithful member of the Brookland Church of
Christ since that time. Wanda was dedicated to serving God and enjoyed her time teaching
yearly vacation bible school. Wanda was dedicated to her family and especially dedicated to
her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Erna and Mary (Rodgers) Tinch; brothers: Glenn,
Gene, Joel, and Ricky Tinch; sister in law: Vickie Tinch; nieces: Deb Tinch and Jami Reynolds;
and granddaughter, Aleah Holcomb.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Ray Smith; her three daughters: Patsy Moriarty and
husband Greg, Missy Gossett and husband Allen, and Mindy Holcomb; her grandson, Aaron
Gossett; her granddaughters: Buffie (Moriarty) Bivona and husband Sean, Hannah Gossett and
wife Britney, Avery Holcomb, and Addison Holcomb; and her great-granddaughter Rhiannon
Howard.
Wanda is also survived by her brothers: Danny Tinch and Rod Tinch; sisters: Gail Ledbetter,
Peggy Reynolds and husband Comer, Kathy Peters and husband Ricky, Diane Clark and
husband Lewis; her sister in law Joyce Tinch, and her cousin and lifelong friend Clella
Conatser.
Wanda will be buried at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery near her granddaughter, Aleah.
