Wanda Laveda Hollis, 77, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Wanda was born in Jonesboro and lived all of her life here. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Nettleton High School. Wanda was a long time member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of Women Missionary Association. She enjoyed gardening and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Calvin “Bud” Hollis and by her parents, Victor Kenneth and Wyona Laveda Gartman Carter.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Deborah G. Hollis Taylor and her husband Pat Taylor and Michelle Hollis Willey, all of Jonesboro;
1 son, Kenneth Larry “Sonny” Hollis of Jonesboro;
6 grandchildren: Victoria Denise Taylor White (Cole) of Rogers, Ross Elliott Thomas Taylor (Mandy) of New Albany, Mississippi, Amber Nicole Hollis Huffman (Rick), Andrew Clayton Cody Hollis (Jennifer), Joshua Charles Willey, and Elijah Daniel Willey all of Jonesboro; and
5 great grandchildren: Jessica Leanne Stracener and Aiden Carter Ezery Huffman both of Jonesboro, and Corban Charles Thomas Taylor, Eavee Dawn Taylor and Vaida Marilyn Taylor, all of New Albany, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Henderson and Chris James officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Ross Taylor, Cody Hollis, Josh Willey, Gene Counce, Joe Counce and Gary Gartman.
Honorary pallbearers include Doyle Dorton, Boots Rutherford, Junior Higgins, Buddy Showalter, Buddy White, Buddy Davis, Clarence Higgins, Sr., Teddy Rook, Dickie Rook, and Mickey Bray.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
