Wanda Griggs

Wanda Griggs, 69, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Viola and had lived in Jonesboro for 20 years, having moved here from Lake City. In the earlier years, she enjoyed camping at Lake Norfork with her family. She was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan rarely missing a game. She especially liked spending time with her precious dog, Lady.

She is survived by her children, James Gregory (Betty Jo) Griggs of Jonesboro, Michael (Karen) Griggs of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Debra (Danny) Pendergrass of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Misty (Jason) Bradley, Greg (Jessica) Griggs, Whitney Griggs, Andrew Griggs, Jacy Griggs; great grandchildren, Gracey Griggs, Jillian Griggs; and her brothers, Rufus Bales, Ranzy Bales, and Bo Bales.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Griggs; her parents, Herman & Ethel Crawford Bales; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bob Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Fred Farmer, Jason Bradley, Billy Joe Morris, Rick Dillinger, Joe Clements, and Greg Griggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Misty Bradley, Greg Griggs, Whitney Griggs, Andrew Griggs, Jacy Griggs, Gracey Griggs, Jillian Griggs, and Tracy Farmer.

Visitation will be Tuesday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
