Wanda Lee Chappel, 82, died at Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Friday, June 25. Born in Lake City on August 7, 1927, Mrs. Chappel was a long-time resident of Jonesboro, having returned to this area 27 years ago following the death of her husband, C. N. Chappel.
Mrs. Chappel was a dedicated housewife and loving mother, leaving behind four children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by daughter Carolyn Ransford and her husband, Gary Ransford of Semmes, Alabama; daughter Cathey Wilcox and her husband, Jerry Wilcox of Jonesboro, Arkansas; daughter Deborah Chappel Traylor and her husband, William Maurice Traylor of Marion, Arkansas; and son Judson Keith Chappel, also of Marion, Arkansas.
Grandchildren are Stephanie Williams of Semmes, Alabama; Leslie Laine of Los Angeles, California; Matthew D. Wells of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Libby Harmon of Batesville, Arkansas.
Great-grandchildren are Justin Williams, Sophie Laine, and Kendall Grace Harmon.
Surviving siblings are Mary Depriest of Paragould, Arkansas and Nina West of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Mrs. Chappel was preceded in death by her husband, C. N. Chappel, her parents William and Pearl Tenison, her brother C. D. Tenison, and her sisters Oma Dunham and Glenda Eggers .
Graveside services will be conducted at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas with Rev. Jerry Wilcox officiating on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10 am.
