Walter Eugene Whitenton, 70, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, July 20, 2019, in Jonesboro.
Walter was born in Jonesboro and lived in the area all of his life. He attended Nettleton High School and worked as a Diesel Mechanic most of his adult life before retiring. Walter was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed working in his shop building birdhouses and "piddling." He also enjoyed sewing, woodworking, crafts and fixing bicycles. At one time Eugene was a professional wrestler using the ring name, "Lumberjack."
Walter was preceded in death by his parents: Walter I. and Mattie Jewel Riley Whitenton, 2 brothers: Ronnie and Donnie Whitenton and 2 sisters: Evelyn Perciful and Barbara Owens.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Annette Cox of Paragould, and Judy McQuay (James) and Rhonda Lane (Christina) all of Jonesboro;
8 grandchildren: Zach Morrison, Nichole Jefferson, Cassie Dodson, James W. McQuay, Jessica Hill, Katie Weir, Colton Coots and Logan Romack; and
12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service and visitation will be announced by the family at a later date.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
