Walter Julian Cashion, 91, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, December 11, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Walter Julian Cashion was born on October 22, 1921 to the late Walter and Alpha Trett Cashion in Pollard, AR. He spent several years in the US Army, where he fought in five different battles; Normandy, Northern Frances, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe. He is a retired HVAC repair expert from Frank Lyon Company out of Little Rock. He was a master plumber, heat and air, electrician, and a jack of all trades and master of all. He never ran into a problem at work or home that he could not fix. He was a true family man that loved his wife and three daughters, but he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He loved to play with the grandchildren and watch baseball, and he was always wearing his St. Louis Cardinal hat and jacket. He was an elder for 16 years at Washington Avenue Church of Christ, and 5 years at his church in Jacksonville, AR. His sweet loving and godly personality will be missed but not forgotten.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Oliver Cashion and one sister, Opal Davis.
He survived by his loving wife, Wanda Johnson Cashion of the home; three daughters, Judy (Donald) Moore of Jonesboro, Deana (Steve) Sawdey of Florida, and Phyllis Cashion (Wally Davis) of Little Rock; one sister Lois Johnston of Cabot; six grandchildren, Lori Nelson, Spencer Moore, Jon Moore, Michelle Woodman, Zane Moore, Mary Catherine Ballew; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday morning from 9 a.m. until service time in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Kenneth Gossett and Keith Cozort officiating. Burial will follow at Birdeye Veteran Cemetery in Birdeye, AR with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers are all of Walter’s grandchildren.
