W. C. “Bud” Masterson, 90. of Jonesboro, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Craighead County Nursing Center. He had moved to Craighead County in 1925 and into Jonesboro in 1946. Bud was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church and worked in construction most of his life. He loved to hunt with his life-long friend, Carl Cook, fish and dance. He was a member of the Saturday Night Dance Club. Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Masterson; his son, Floyd Masterson, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include sons, Wayne Masterson and wife Diane of Jonesboro; Steve Masterson and wife Margie of Heber Springs, Arkansas; sister Gladys Sharp of Jonesboro; Lona Davis of Jonesboro, the mother of Wayne and Steve; six grandchildren, Anthony, Shawn, Greg, Melissa, Brent, and Holly; four great grandchildren, Emily, Shaila, Skyler and Troy.
Graveside services will be 2:30 on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend Charles Sigman officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Carl Cook, Bill Smith, Tim Albert, Larry Clark, Mike Glasco and Gary Masterson. Honorary pallbearers are his Sunday School Class and friends from the St. Paul’s Methodist Church and residents of Aspen Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 – 2 on Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home.
