Virginia Lee Hodges

Virginia Lee Hodges, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born on August 31, 1941, to the late Oscar and Bernice Meggs in Greenbriar, Arkansas.

Virginia dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse, working tirelessly at St. Bernards and Forrest Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. She was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Forrest City.

Known for her passionate support, Virginia was a devoted fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks, John Elway and the Denver Broncos. She found joy in needlepoint and cross-stitching, showcasing her creative talents, most of all she loved attending all her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She traveled all over the state so she didn’t miss one. Virginia cherished time spent with her children, especially her grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.

A sports enthusiast, Virginia found happiness in watching athletics, her favorite quote, "It's a good weekend when Jonesboro Hurricanes win on Friday, Razorbacks win on Saturday, and any Sunday John Elway and the Denver Broncos win" reflected her positive and spirited outlook on life.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Meggs, and great-grandchild, Astin Beale.

She is survived by her son, Jim Hodges, and wife Erin of Jonesboro; three daughters, LeAnn Travis and husband Don of Jonesboro, Jennifer "Sam" Williams and husband Jerry "Shorty" Russell of Jonesboro, Brandi Hodges Pagan of Jonesboro; two brothers, Cecil Meggs and wife Bannie of Palestine, Arkansas, Jimmy Meggs of Colt, Arkansas; one sister, Betti Wilson of Forrest City; six grandchildren, Molly Hodges, Maggie Hodges, Chris Travis, Dylan Travis, Misty Leonard, and Hunter Kee; and two great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Beale and Oliver Travis. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, as well as a lifetime of friends.

Virginia Lee Hodges will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who brought warmth and joy to the lives.

Visitation will be Friday, January 12, 2024 starting at 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, 2834 Race St, Jonesboro, AR 72401
