Virgie Maxwell, 84, of Jonesboro died Thursday August 1, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Trumann, Arkansas on October 25, 1928 to James and Melinnie Bowman Davis. She had lived in Jonesboro her lifetime and was a Baptist.

She was a secretary and a member of the Eastern Star, member of the Amaranth and elder of the Lost Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri.

She was a strong prayer warrior, did prison ministry and sung in the Maxwell family gospel group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Maxwell Sr., 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Survived by her sons; William K. Maxwell Jr. and wife Janice of Williford, Arkansas, Les D. Maxwell and wife Phyllis of Jonesboro and David Craig and wife Jean of Jonesboro.

Daughters; Darleene Powell and Kaye Hansen and husband Jerry all of Jonesboro.

15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday August 5, 2013 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Gipson and Herbert Maxwell officiating. Burial will be at Gibson Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers will be William Maxwell Jr, Brandon Hays, Michael Jones, Michael Ketcherside, Jerry Ketcherside and Les Maxwell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scottie Broadaway, Junior Broadaway and her grandsons.

Visitation will be from 3-5:00 P.M. Sunday August 4, at Emerson Funeral Home.
