Violet Gatlin

December 3, 1923 — January 12, 2011

Violet Lee Welch Gatlin, 87, of Jonesboro died Wednesday January 12, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Waldenburg and had lived in Jonesboro since 1996, moving here from Hardy. She was a homemaker and a member of the Immanuel Missionary Baptist church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hickman Gatlin, parents Amos and Nora Welch, one son, Gerald Ray Riley, one sister, Clora Curtis, four brothers, Fred, Bud, Oley and Charles Welch.

Survived by her three sons, Charles and Shelby Riley both of Jonesboro and Jimmy Riley of Casa Grande, Arizona.

Four daughters, Betty McCain of Jonesboro, Wanda Lee Watkins of Mendanhall, Mississippi, Linda Doris Gearhart and Brenda Sue Reed both of Casa Grande, Arizona.
One brother, Howard Welch of Evening Shade, Arkansas.

15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great - great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday January 14, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Larry Merrell officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Lankhaar, Scott Lankhaar, Buddy Riley, Henry Watkins and Matthew Mayhew.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene McCain, Mike Gearhart and Butch Lange.

Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time at Emerson Funeral Home.
