Vernon J. Petty

Vernon J. Petty, 83, of Jonesboro passed away Friday May 8, 2015 at his home. He was born in Trumann, Arkansas on March 31, 1932 to the late Fred and Leona Bowden Petty. Vernon lived in Jonesboro most of his life and worked at Riceland Foods. He was a member of the Jonesboro Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife; Levon Petty, Parents; Willie and Leona Bowden Rodgers and 2 brothers; Gerrald Rodgers and Non Rodgers.

He is survived by his sons; Vernon Petty (Linda), John Petty (Cindy) and Terry Petty (Leah) all of Jonesboro. Daughter; Brenda Brandstatt (Jimmy) of Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

10 Grandchildren; Vernon Petty, Brandon Petty, Kyle Brandstatt, Kylena Carnell, Brenda Hignite, Johnny Petty, James Petty, Katie Petty, Gracie Petty and Tracie Petty and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday May 10, 2015 at the Jonesboro Baptist Church, with Dr. Gary Winters officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be from 1:30P.M.until service time on Sunday May 10, 2015 at the Jonesboro Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers will be Rusty Koster, Ashtyn Anderson, David Tyler, Kyle Brandstatt, Johnny Petty and James Petty.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Jonesboro Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the Jonesboro Baptist Church, 5916 E. Johnson Avenue, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
