Vernon Blasingame

August 18, 1937 — May 10, 2016

Vernon Blasingame, 78, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born on August 18, 1937 in Trumann to the late Jim and Opal Blasingame.

Vernon served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After returning from the Marines, he worked for Singer Corporation in Trumann and became a Production Foreman. Vernon left Singer to become the Owner of Blasingame Plant Farm, and later started the original Farmers Market in Jonesboro. He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Trumann and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded by his wife, Arlene Moss Blasingame; brothers, J.M. Blasingame, Paul Blasingame Sr., and John Oliver Blasingame; sisters, Dianna Osment and Wanda Glowacz.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Linda Blasingame; sons, Shane Blasingame (Krystal) and Randy Cantrell (Mitzi); daughters, Renae Dudley (Brian) and Misty Madison (Larry); brothers, Bud Blasingame, Calvin Blasingame, Keith Blasingame, and David Blasingame; sisters, Nancy White, Patsy Davis, Kathrine McMullin, Marlene Hancock, and Charlotte Baxter; grandchildren, Chris Dudley, Trevor Blasingame (Mattie), Corinne Dudley, Haidyn Blasingame, Kate Sims (Dustin), and Gavin Cantrell; great grandson, Brayden Blasingame. Vernon also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Darrel Miller and Bro. Austin Missey officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with the Active pallbearers being Darrell White, James Lyons, Paul Blasingame Jr., Michael McMullin, and Jan Morgan. The honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Watkins, Daniel Watkins, Brandon White, and Will White.

The visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Emerson Funeral Home. In consideration of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First General Baptist Church, 15765 Promised Land Lane, Trumann, Arkansas 72472.
