Verna Sue Weaver-Daniel, 74, of Jonesboro, passed away March 12, 2024 at her home. She was born on April 19, 1949 in Jonesboro to Herbert Ray Carpenter and Wilma Juanita Roberts.
Sue was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking and drinking coffee. She loved flowers and found joy in caring for her roses. Sue also enjoyed spending time talking on the phone and playing bingo. More than anything, Sue loved her family and especially loved being a grandma. Letting the grandkids do things their parents didn’t let them do was something she particularly enjoyed about being a grandma.
Sue is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Cox; dad, John W. Coke; father, Herbert Carpenter; sisters, Gloria Young and Catherine Ann Carpenter Altmen; brother, William J. Coke; and aunt, Davis Newcom.
She is survived by her husband, James Daniel of the home; son, Chris and Tim Weaver of Jonesboro; daughter, Nita and Tim Daniels of Jonesboro; son, Josh and Tabitha Daniel of Jonesboro; son, William and Emily Newcom of Needham; and daughter, Melissa Gregory of Kennett, Missouri; sisters, Wilma Martin of Jonesboro, Mary Frances Valdez of Covina, California, Angela Goodlett of Falls Church, Virginia; brothers, John N. Carpenter of Long Beach, California and James R. Carpenter of Nampa, Idaho; grandchildren, Laken and Eric Gestring, Dalyn Daniels, Teagan Weaver, Jaxson Daniel, Jasmine Newcom, Serenity Newcom, and Hanna Newcom; and great-grandchild, Payton Vest.
