Vera Covington

Vera Covington, "Mimi," 86, of Lepanto, AR, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 10 at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City, AR. She entered Heaven's gates in the arms of her husband, Howard and granddaughter Carla. Vera was born October 16, 1932, in New Albany, MS, where she lived her childhood. Her parents were Alice and John Decanter.

Vera was preceded in death by her brothers and a sister. She met her life love, Howard and they were married 70 years. Vera was the mother of Jo Anne (David) Gamble of Jonesboro, AR and Billye White (David) of Fayetteville, AR, the Mimi of Wendey Emison (Todd) of Mountain Home, Miki (Jeff) Womack of Lake City and Rick White of Twin Bridges, MT; 5 great grandchildren: T.J. Emison, Cooper Liles, Carly Jo, Vada Mae and Kirby Womack and a host of friends and relatives.

Mimi was a member of First Baptist Church of Lepanto. She was a talented seamstress and cook. She delighted in sharing her freshly baked cupcakes and her sweet smile with everyone in Lepanto. She will be remembered as a hard worker, a woman gifted with many talents and a generous heart. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Lakeside Nursing Center for their loving care the last 2 1/2 years.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Decanter officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. preceding the service.

For lasting memorials the family asks that consideration be given to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
