Veonia Yeager-Wyse

Veonia Yeager-Wyse, 85, of Piggott passed from this life Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi on September 15, 1928 to the late Willie and Lois Hammett. Veonia lived in Bay most of her life where she owned the Doll Raggs dress shop for 16 years. She had a love for gardening and being outside. Veonia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Piggott.

She is preceded in death by her first husband: Marvis Yeager. Second husband: Hank Wyse Sr. Brothers: Tom Hammett, Morton Hammett, and Adron Hammett.

Veonia is survived by her sons: Joe Yeager of Austin, Texas, Fred (Doris) Yeager of St. Louis, Missouri, and Jerry (Sharon) Yeager of Jonesboro. Daughter: Connie (Dan) Gossett of Piggott. Step-son: John (Kathy) Wyse Jr. Step-daughters: Linda Jo Whitley, Jackie Heckman, Patty Owens, and Stacy Scott. Brother: Harold Hammett. Sister: MaxAnn Hammett. And one grandchild: Steve (Kelly) Yeager.

Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5:00-7:00.

Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Welborn officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery with pallbearers being: Lannie Scott, Daniel Gossett, Jason Hammett, Jim Tice, Larry Rawls, and David Kelly.
