Velva Dee Lingenfelter, 87, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Friday, December 13, 2019, at her home. She was born to the late Elbert and Birdia Parnell on January 29, 1932, in Trumann. Velva enjoyed gardening in her flower garden and her vegetable garden. She was known as a great cook and would even can her vegetables from her garden. Velva’s family was an important part of her life, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Velva is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Velva is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charley Lingenfelter of the home; sons, Sonny Lingenfelter (Marjorie) of Jonesboro and Terry Lingenfelter of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Randy Lingenfelter (Becky), Lisa Barber (Chris), Coty Lingenfelter (Hannah), and Mitch Barringer. Velva also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and a host of other family and friends.
The visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church with Danny Gartman, Randy Lingenfelter, and Mike Book officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Wayne Parnell, Jeremy Parnell, Yogi Parnell, Scott Henderson, Dewayne Lingenfelter, and Ricky Brown.
