Velma Stroud

Velma U. Stroud, 75, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She lived most of her life in the Jonesboro area and was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Walter Stroud.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Thomas and Husband Ken; Loretta Little and her husband, Hardy J. III, of Jonesboro; Linda Quinn of Bay and a step-daughter, Pauline Russell of Jonesboro; one brother Doyle Thomas of Searcy; sisters, Vernice Hall and Frances Wilbanks of Jonesboro; Juanita Vanhoozier, Mexico; Shirley Arnold, Searcy, Arkansas; Virginia Cox, Conway, Arkansas; grandchildren, Sharon Powers, Terry Daniels, Karen Blalock, Tim Daniels, Lorinda Little, Nichole Avery, Andrea Huffine, Matthew Quinn; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mark Rutherford officiating with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements . Cameo Watkins will be the soloist. Pallbearers are grandsons, Terry Daniels, Matthew Quinn, Tim Daniels, Kevin Powers, Brandon Powers, Joseph Blalock, Darrell Powers and David Avery. Honorary pallbearers are Hardy Little III, Tim Huffine, Ken Thomas and Jim Daniels. Visitation will be from 5 – 7:30 Tuesday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
