Valerie Leonne Clarke

Valerie Leonne Clarke, 80, of Jonesboro passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017. She was born in St. James, Jamaica to the late Jerome Vincent and Viola Daly on October 30, 1936. Valerie grew up with her beloved brothers, Pat and Beau; and uncles and cousins, James, John, Renford, Joan, Millie, and numerous others. She worked as a teacher and a telephone operator while living in Jamaica. She relocated to New York in the 1970’s where she married her late husband, Carlyle Clarke. She later relocated to Lehigh Acres, Florida and then to Jonesboro to join her daughter Lorna Layton and son in law Michael and granddaughter Gabrielle. She enjoyed to travel, dancing, puzzles, reading and her beloved cats. She loved to laugh.

Valerie is preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Daly. In addition to her immediate family of Lorna, Mike, and Gabby she leaves behind her brother, Beauclerc Daly, his wife Faye and nephew Andrew; her sister, Angie her husband Harvey and nephew Vincent; Lorna, Richard, Maria, Heather, Michael her family in Scotland; and numerous friends and family in Florida and New York.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Jonesboro on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Burial will be private.
