Tyrone Moye

August 26, 1940 — February 11, 2023

Tyrone Moye, 82, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in Etowah, Tyrone lived much of his life in Harrisburg before moving to Jonesboro in 2007. He was a 1958 graduate of Harrisburg High School, a veteran of the Arkansas Army National Guard and a member of Fisher Street United Methodist Church where he served as a board member.

Tyrone was a past member of the Harrisburg Lions Club and the Jonesboro Elks Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and generally helping his fellow man. Although Tyrone was a farmer all of his adult life, he never tired of the true calling of the farm. He was passionate about the health of the soil, the water and the crops and his desire was always to leave the farm in better condition than the previous year.

Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents: Hershel and Hettie Vee Morgan Moye; brother Wencil Moye, sister Graple Rose, and grandson Gatlin Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Kay Moye, of the home, together  42 years, married 35 years, wedded December 12, 1987;

2 sons, Scott Moye of Little Rock and Kevin Moye of Jonesboro;

2 daughters, Katrina Watson and husband Jeremy, and Crystal Bridger, all of Jonesboro;

3 sisters, Arbie Martin of Harrisburg, Arkie Burrus and husband John of Jonesboro and Sandra Faulkner of Batesville;

5 grandchildren, Malory Slater, Caroline Moye, Haleigh Moye, Zaiden Kent and Zachary Kent; and 1 great granddaughter Tenleigh Slater.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Mausoleum Chapel in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Charles Coleman officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by Kathy Tilson. Burial will follow in the park cemetery. Pallbearers include Jeremy Watson, Daniel Huffstutler, Zaiden Kent, Zachary Kent, Kathy Tilson and Cody Slater.

There will be no public visitation.
