Twilla Marie Threm

Twilla Marie Treece Threm, 69, of Jonesboro died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St. Vincent North Hospital in Sherwood, Arkansas.

She was born September 15, 1953, in Paragould, a daughter of Bobby and Bonnie Lerlene (Cox) Treece.

An honor graduate of Oak Grove High School, Twilla earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Education from Arkansas State University while graduating with honors. She began her teaching career at Lepanto High School and worked there for three years before moving to Forrest City for an instructional position at East Arkansas Community College. She taught at EACC for 31 years before retiring in 2010. Twilla received the institution’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1997.

While in Forrest City, she met her future husband, Don, and the two were married at the Gainesville Church of Christ near Paragould in 1982. They later moved to Wynne and spent more than a decade in Cross County before relocating to Jonesboro so Twilla could provide care for her aging parents who lived in Paragould.

Twilla loved yard work and spent hours mowing, watering, trimming, planting, and caring for flowers and shrubs. She enjoyed the beauty of a well-groomed yard so much that she often ventured into her neighbors’ yards (with their permission, of course), to work her magic there. She and Don shared a love for tennis and spent many hours on the courts playing or practicing.

Twilla attended multiple congregations in Eastern Arkansas throughout her life and was a devoted member of the Valley View Church of Christ for the last 11 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Don, of the home; daughters Holly (Thomas) Goslin of Judsonia; Kara (Chris) Britt of Palestine; her sister, Kathy Treece Montgomery of Jonesboro; and grandchildren Huxley Goslin, and Nessa, Mina, and Magnus Britt.

Visitation and a memorial service will be conducted Saturday, March 18, at the Valley View Church of Christ in Jonesboro. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., and the memorial will begin at 2 p.m. with Dr. Spencer Furby officiating.
