Troy Oneal Martin

September 25, 1940 — March 28, 2022

Troy Oneal Martin, 81, of Jonesboro passed from this life Monday, March 28, 2022 at his home of 49 years in Jonesboro. He was born September 25, 1940 in Beebe to the late John and Wada Martin.

Troy was a deacon at The Cottage Home Missionary Baptist Church, which later became Windover Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member. At the time of his passing, he was a dedicated member of Nettleton Baptist Church.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, growing enough to feed the whole neighborhood and loving to give it away. He could fix anything he put his mind to, always tinkering with some type of throw-away that needed repairing.

He worked for Colson Caster, Jonesboro Division, as a tool and die journeyman for 38 years, retiring in 2004. After he retired, he developed a love for wood working and made many beautiful one-of-a-kind duck calls, that he loved to give away to his family and younger generation duck hunters.

He loved his family beyond measure, all his girls, especially his “little bit” (Scottie Rose), always talking about how she made him smile. Though they will miss him terribly, his family is comforted knowing that he is rejoicing in Heaven with his Savior and Lord, his daughter, and other family members and friends that have preceded him.

In addition to his parents, Troy is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelly Martin; sisters, Beatrice Smithee and Pat Bridges and brothers, Burnis Martin, Larry Martin, and Michael Martin.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sue Martin; daughter, Diane (Scotty) Keith; granddaughters, Rachael (Mitchell) Ruthven, Amanda (Caleb) McCoy and Leah Keith as well as great-granddaughter, Scottie Rose Ruthven.

A graveside service will be held at 10am Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Monette Cemetery with Troy’s beloved Sunday School teacher, George Williamson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations to St. Jude Hospital or Nettleton Baptist Church Building Fund be considered.
