Tonya Jean Harris

Tonya Harris, 60, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Tonya was born in Jonesboro on March 9, 1957 to the late Billy Hout and Mildred Hout Brunson. Tonya lived most of her life in Memphis and Jonesboro areas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and worked at Stone’s Pharmacy for more than 15 years. She spent most of her life as a homemaker while she was raising her children. She had children, Ramey, Brandon, and Allyson, but she was known as Mom to many. She taught and instilled good values to her children. She taught them to be gracious, selfless and accepting of whomever they came in contact with in life. She loved to be with her family, but she had a special love for her granddaughter, Ella Harris. Her positive outlook in life and ability to be thankful in all things will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Hout, and her mother and step-father, Mildred and Vic Brunson; and one brother, Billy Don Hout.

She is survived by two daughters, Ramey Harris and her partner Jen Hollandsworth of Memphis and Allyson Harris and her fiancé Nate Barnes of Jonesboro; one son, Brandon Harris and his wife Heather of Memphis; one sister, Kathy Holler of Jonesboro; one granddaughter, Ella Harris of Jonesboro; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Oaklawn Cemetery with Patrick Landers officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Harris, Sean Saunders, Matt Lawrence, Jeremy Holler, Dr. Drew Dunham and Nate Barnes.
