Tony Waymon Futrell, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Tony was a graduate of State High School and Arkansas State College where he was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He worked 8 years for Mercantile Bank of Jonesboro and retired as company secretary with 29 years of service from E.C. Barton Company.
Tony was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church where was a deacon and past chairman of the church finance committee. He was a past member of the Jonesboro Jaycees and the ASU Indian Club. Tony was preceded in death by his parents: Tony and Edna Cheshier Futrell; and by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Berniece and Clyde Jackson and June and Ferrell Erwin.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Mary Aldrich Futrell of the home;
2 sons and daughters-in-law: Tony L. and Kim Futrell of Jonesboro and Jim and Tracey Futrell of Benton;
4 grandchildren: Jenna Futrell, Chase Futrell, Joel Futrell and Bethany Futrell;
2 step grandchildren: Matt Sills and Morgan (Tad) Terrell; and
1 step great grandchild: Briggs Terrell.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Hutchison officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A private committal service will precede the service. A time of visitation will precede and follow the memorial service at the church.
