Tommie L. Layne, 81, of Bono died Monday, January 23, 2012 at NEA Baptist Hospital. She was born in Nettleton and had lived in this area most of her life but had lived in Florida for 15 years. A member of Bono Church of Christ, she was a retired bookkeeper who loved to crochet, fish, and camp with her husband. She enjoyed Razorback basketball and Cardinals baseball. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved her dogs, the most recent one, “Bo”.

She is survived by her children, Ronnie (Alecia) Layne, Bono, KaSandra “Sandy” Brewington and her significant other, Freddie Shatsar, Jonesboro, Debbie (Mike) Brady, Russellville; grandchildren, Gina Dortch, Lynn Brewington, Marc Brewington, Sherri Meatte, Shellee Todd, Gene Layne, Randy Layne, Matthew Brady, Nicole Greathouse; 23 great grandchildren with one to arrive in May; 1 great great grandchild; and sisters, Lila Wilson, Orange City, Florida, and Dene Barnett, Jonesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gene Layne; parents, James D. & Jewell McMinn Costner; sister, Betty Cranmore; brother, Jerry Costner; grandson, Kerry Brewington; and son-in-law, Garry Brewington.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Richard Akins officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Lynn Brewington, Marc Brewington, Gene Layne, Randy Layne, Matthew Brady, and Kaylen Dortch. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
